SEO;
Once the site design, platform and extensions are in order, it’s time to look at visibility. No good having a nice fancy site if nobody can find you or your products is it! That’s where SEO comes in. A lot of people look at this and say ‘I will do that later’ – this is a big mistake. SEO is critical to the visibility of your site and needs to be maintained. Whether it is an up to date robots.txt or full meta on all products, it cannot be stated enough that you should take care of this!! There is one big warning though – if any company promises you page 1 ranking in 30 days, run. I have no doubt that they will actually succeed in this, in the short term, but I will bet my life after 2 months you will sink faster than the Titanic and never be able to recover. These are known as ‘black hat’ strategies that link to hundreds or thousands of pages with little or no relevant content on them. As soon as the search engine’s algorithm’s start noticing this, you are essentially black listed.
